Tom recently picked up this Avenger on eBay in North Carolina, and has since added a Ghia front end to it and is getting it ready for paint (it goes to the shop on Monday) and a new interior. He’s got a great set of kit cars, and is considering selling this one to finance the continuing restoration of his Aztec and Manta Montage, previously posted.

In Issaquah, Washington on eBay (#140298518422) right now is a first-generation VW-based Manta Montage kit car that looks like a nice base for someone to build a gorgeous vehicle from. The pan is unfortunately missing the title, so you’ll need to source a new title or otherwise re-register it, and the engine is not currently running — but it’s largely a complete car other than the rear window, which a buyer will need to fabricate out of lexan (one poster on the auction mentioned they’d done this for their Montage at a cost of about $70). The interior and electrical also need work. Nonetheless, the Montage is one of the nicest kit cars out there, and there are lots of little touches that make it look more “real” than most kits — to give you an example, look at the second-last photo, of the rear deck. The fact that the car has inner fenders goes a long way to keep it from looking cheap.

The owner — a recycling facility (junk yard?) — wasn’t sure what they had, but readers here will instantly recognize it as an Invader GT body shell, ready for mounting on a VW Beetle pan. The body is solid (the Invaders tended to be well made), and you can either pick it up in Port Orchard, Washington, or they can arrange shipping. It’s a no-reserve auction with an opening bid of $49.99 on eBay (#370154428938), so I’m guessing someone will get this one for almost nothing.

Robert and Bats both wrote in asking what ever happened to the Corbett Patriot, a Wraith-like car built by Adrian Corbett, who’d previously sold a somewhat questionable copy of the Countach for the VW Beetle. The Patriot was a radical rebody for the Fiero that sold for $16,995. The question I have, is this another wild car that never made it past the prototype stage? Or are there a few of these rotting away in barns, waiting for restoration?

Dan is selling an interesting Riot re-work project. The first three pictures are of the original version, and the remainder show what he’s started. When he broke the original windshield and discovered that a replacement would be $1,000, he grafted in a new one from a Neon (including the original frame from the Neon). He’s also swapped in what he feels are more appropriate headlights, and has started to remove the old ones. He’s located in Windsor, Ontario, and is looking for $4,000 to let the project go. Contact him at sedn39@sympatico.ca — if it doesn’t sell, he’s converting it to electric.

The car also comes with brand new BF Goodrich 305/50R/15 rear and 205/50R/15 front, and never sat on PRO/Scat seats, as well as Center Line aluminum rims and a rebuilt tranny, new starter, four new shocks, and an unopened wiring package. The car does not come with an engine, but he does have an unassembled “fire breather, turbo-able 2054″, which he’s open to selling as well (with or without the car).

Due to health problems, Albert is selling his “built with love” GT-40 replica on a Fiero base. It’s the 4-speed, 4-cylinder driveline (rebuilt by O’Reilly Auto Parts), and has coil over adjustables with CCS suspension. The car is located in Arkansas City, KS at an asking price of $11,000 — email dmiller55@cox.net if you’re interested.
