Ricky really ought to put his email address on his website about VW toys so I could tell him how cool I think this still in progress conversion is. (More pictures here).
I found his page in a search for Delorean pictures. I used to drive a Delorean as my daily driver but have since upgraded to a Porsche 996, and have been day-dreaming about transplanting the Porsche chassis underneath a Delorean body, but comparing pictures I don’t think it could be made to fit.
Jon thinks that the chopped VW hotrod is a better look, but I like this clean-looking 1974 VW Beetle with flared fenders, square light conversion, new motor, bushing, brakes, axles, tires, lines, new floor, and a $3,800. The asking price is $8,995 and if you’re interested you can contact ed via ewoodruffjr@stny.rr.com or at 607-857-9038. Oh, and if you hear it’s sold before I do, please drop me a line so I can update this entry!
Scott Woodard writes,
This Beetle started out as 1974 and 1970 standard Beetles. My inspiration came from the guys over at www.volksrods.com, a cool site. The car is still a work in progress. It isn't a show car; just a beater I built for fun and to learn on. My other car is a Lamborghini Diablo replica that I'm going to work on once I finish the VW.
Can’t wait to see how the Diablo turns out, and I know Scott says it’s “just a beater” but especially in the second (middle) photo, this relatively minor modification to a Beetle is pretty wild looking.
