Check out this Brubaker box, sent in by Aeromecca@aol.com, who’s got 1779cc with weber progressive 2bbl in it — listen to the engine in the video below. The paint looks faded below because he’s currently redoing the paint job. Definitely one of my favorite VW-based kits, and one of the more innovative designs out there.

Searching for the Corbett Patriot

Robert and Bats both wrote in asking what ever happened to the Corbett Patriot, a Wraith-like car built by Adrian Corbett, who’d previously sold a somewhat questionable copy of the Countach for the VW Beetle. The Patriot was a radical rebody for the Fiero that sold for $16,995. The question I have, is this another wild car that never made it past the prototype stage? Or are there a few of these rotting away in barns, waiting for restoration?

Adams Brothers Probe 16 Video

I know, it’s not really a kit car, but it might as well be. The Adams brothers produced a number of wild cars that I’m a big fan of — the completely mad Mantis XP (another car that I’d love to see a kit made of) — but the practically knee-height Probe 16 (the Imp Site has a great page on it) is arguably the wildest of the bunch. One of the Probes showed up on Top Gear a while back seeking restoration (it didn’t win), and they shot some great video of it that really show what a suberb car it was, and I’d like to share that here.

Before you ask, yes, I’ve called the owner of the Probe 16 in Canada and bugged him to let me splash a mold off of it. For now he’s not interested…

Stuck in a Countach kit

I don’t normally post videos here, but for this I’ll make an exception: If you thought getting in and out of a Lamborghini Countach was hard, don’t even bother trying to escape from a cheap-looking short-wheelbase Countach kit car! Sorry for laughing, but hahaha…

Black Manta Mirage For Sale

Neptali in Florida is selling his black Manta Mirage. It’s running a 327 mated to a 4-speed Corvair transmission, and runs well but needs some work to get it visually perfect, including replacing the windshield (they are still available from mantacars.com).
