Swedish Seethra Kit Car

Casper in Denmark recently picked up this Seethra kit car body in Sweden, where it was made in the eighties. As far as he knows about 200 were built, but he hasn’t been able to track down much info on them and was hoping some readers here might know more that would be of assistance in his completing this project — post in the comments if you do. This car, which sort of looks to me like the bastard child of an F40 and a Countach, was available both on a custom tube chassis and a VW pan — my advice to Casper was to choose the easy route and mount it on a VW.

Anyway… Peter sent me this picture from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, of a couple of mystery cars. They seem to be dune buggies built on a New Beetle? Anyone know anything about these?

Mystery VW Kit Car Project

This mystery modern kit car project was for sale on eBay about two years ago, molds included, so presumably it’s a one-off that was intended for something bigger that never made it. It’s VW-based of course, and is believed to have been originally marketed as the “Scorpion GT”, but other than that nothing is known about its history or current location — if any readers know more, please post in the comments.

Mystery One-Off Eagle Kit Car

I saw an “interesting” mystery kit car on YouTube that was identified there as a “Lamborghini PMA P400″ replica, which obviously it isn’t, although it does have Lamborghini badges on it. I’d definitely put this in the category of cars that people have put an incredible amount of work into but have sadly produced something with limited aesthetic appeal. As far as I can tell this is built around a base of an Eagle/Cimbria type kit car (you can see the characteristic front and side windows), with a great deal of custom work.

Sorry for my absence this past week. I will return, don’t worry. But in the meantime, Tim found this mystery kit and sends it in hoping someone can help identify it… Sort of a Porsche 904 meets Lotus Europa. I think I saw one of these ages ago here in Ontario as well with a mid-engine V8, but I have no idea what it is. Anyone know?

VW Beetle Pick-up Conversion

Steve owns this ‘71 VW Beetle that’s had the rear removed and converted into a pick-up truck, which he bought as a project a few months ago. He doesn’t know anything about it, and was hoping someone here might know what kit it is, or if it’s more likely a one-off project.

Many of you surely remember the atrocious and embarrassing “Fierri Enzno” that was on eBay earlier this year… Well, I don’t know if it’s the same one restyled, or if there are actually more of these monstrosities around, but there’s a red version up on eBay right now right now (#200255251206)… Opening bid, $200: no takers.

Seriously, it really blows me away that anyone would be caught dead driving something like this, let alone put in the hundreds or, god forbid, thousands of hours of work to create this… Every single element of the car is wrong. Truly terrible.

Unusual and Ultra-Rare GT-40 Kit

A friend just tipped me off to this very unusual GT-40 inspired kit car for sale in Salt Lake CIty, Utah. The seller describes it as being made in 1972 by “Unique Mobility, Inc.” (who appear to have been a kit car company that primarily built electric vehicles, but I’m not sure), but says it wasn’t finished finished until 2003 and might be the only one of its kind. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another like it. Asking price is an unreasonable $35,000 unfortunately.

The body is a one piece design (and looks like it has an inner skin as well), with modern modifications like shaved door handles with remotes for the doors and trunk, and a VW floor pan that’s been modified to accept a mid-engine V8 design (Ford 289) using Corvair rear suspension and transaxle. The car is essentially new (and comes with all of the recent receipts), having been driven 125 miles, and is registered as a special.

If anyone knows more about this car’s history, please let me know.
