The answer is no…
This hilarious and slightly decrepit boat/car conversion is up on eBay (#110336071819) in Northern Illinois. The auction is up in three hours and it hasn’t yet cracked $200 or the reserve, so I guess it won’t sell for now. To be honest, I think it would almost be easier to start from scratch than to pick up this project? Nonetheless, I appreciate the project.
The Cimbria is essentially a Sterling that’s been retrofitted with gullwing doors instead of the lifting top… Tim has got one up for sale right now in Appleton, WI for an asking price of $4,000. It’s got a Nissan 3.0 engine (not VW) that turns over but doesn’t start, new wheels and tires, and a clear title. Email Tim at saleen595@yahoo.com — below are the best pictures he could provide as it’s currently buried in his garage.
This blue Kellison GT40K is up for sale in the Detroit area for an asking price of $5,000 (open to trades of guitars and amps, or a 50s classic car). It’s on a VW chassis with a 1500cc engine, running but in need of a tune-up. The side windows are not currently installed, and the paint is fair for a 20+ year old paint job, as is the interior. Drop Nick a line at nickinbass@yahoo.com if you’re interested.
This Kellison Shark just hit Craigslist near Atlanta, Georgia. The running gear is complete, but there’s a ton of cosmetic work left to do. The engine is a dual port head 1814 “with a hot cam”, with all the gauges. Along with two donor cars (a ‘66 and a ‘74 bug), the asking price is $4,000. Gorgeous car that I suspect has far more potential than these pictures show at first glance!
This beautiful red Kelmark GT just showed up on eBay (#120361418098) in Middletown, NY. The opening bid is $5,900 and no reserve has been set, which seems fair. It’s on a 1980 VW chassis and has been driven weekends since the current owner purchased it three years ago. The car looks really nice, but admittedly needs the interior redone (door panels, one of the side windows, etc.)… Apparently it drives great, although it comes without a title.
This is probably the strangest application of an Aztec 7 body you’ll see — an Aztec 7 Swamp Buggy — mounted on a 1984 Chevy 4×4 short pickup frame. The Chevy 350 V8 runs strong, and the transfer case is good, but the tranny is shot. Tires are 32X11.5X15 Super Swampers, and the body of course is an Aztec 7 kit car body. Andy at ahill10cl@yahoo.com is selling this for his dad, who figures the parts value of everything is around $1,200, but says, “I think he’s too high. MAKE ME AN OFFER that you think it’s worth and I’ll see if I can talk him into it. I need to get it out of his yard.” He’s also open to parting it out. The car is located in Cumming, near Atlanta, GA.
Without a doubt, this Sebring kit car (located near Fort Myers, Florida) has seen better days, but still… it’s a Sebring. With two jobs plus school, the current owner — email him at hondahatch@hotmail.com — doesn’t have time to work on it and has put it up for sale at an asking price of only $1,700 (trades will also be considered). It’s on a VW Beetle frame (”has a little bit of rust” — it’s been sitting for a few years) with a 1600cc engine. The sun roof and passenger side glass are broken, but since those are just flat glass they’re simple to replace. Body work has been started, with some of it already sanded to the gel coat. The top is working great. It needs lots of TLC, but this could be a great project to take over for someone in the market for a Sebring.
