I think this has to be one of the nicest, cleanest looking Mini Marks I’ve seen! David and Joan picked up this one, built on a 1969 VW chassis (and titled as such), and after enjoying it both personally and driving in parades promoting his business, he’s decided to sell it. If you’re interested, you can send him an offer at djerick@newulmtel.net.

Norman is selling has sold one of only (about) ten Avantes believed to be still in existence. It’s built on a sound Beetle chassis with the 1600cc VW engine and rides on original refurbished Compomotive alloy wheels. This particular car has been extensively modified with the addition of a professionally built rear spoiler and front air dam. Over the last two years it’s been completely restored with new wiring, engine valves, guides, and rings, and retrimmed with new seats, new disc pads, batter, and windscreen demister, although it still needs minor detail work to make it perfect — Norman is selling it because he has two, and one has to go! The car has been extensively restored over the last two years including rewiring, new engine valves and guides and rings, completely retrimmed, new seats, new disc pads, battery, and a windscreen demister fan fitted.

The car is in the Preston, UK area, and the asking price is a very reasonable £2499.

I feel bad picking on this car, because it’s just so ridiculously ugly that I doubt the creator is even aware of what a monstrosity it is… I mean, it looks like it’s a destroyed Fiero that someone has stapled pieces of silver cardboard all over. The only reason I can think of that someone would bid on eBay item #270021535339 is to scavenge the two Fieros for parts. I’m sorry, but I think this may be the ugliest car I’ve ever posted here. In a way, it’s heartbreaking to imagine that this is the result of hundreds of hours of someone pouring their heart into a dream project.

Yeah, it looks promising in the first thumbnail, I know…

The eBay seller (item #180015447666, ending on the 13th of August) of this “sportbuggy” in Fortville, IN says that it’s one of two cars produced, with this being the only one still in existence. It looks to me like a VW buggy a la a Vokaro — a simple small body dropped on a shortened VW chassis. In this case the stock engine appears to have been swapped for a Corvair engine. If anyone knows more about the car, please post!

Gino has this metallic blue and purple trim Invader GT (with nice hydraulically opening doors!) for sale in northeast Ohio. It’s built on a 1983 VW Super Beetle frame with less than 16,000 miles. Email Gino at ginoytown@aol.com or call 330-793-1275. “Best offer”. It’s definitely one of the cleanest looking Invaders I’ve seen on the market.

Bill in Northern Scotland writes in about his early model Bonito GT-40 replica for sale. It’s never been completed or put on the road but is about 95% complete (oh how true that is for 99% of the kit cars out there). In any case, he writes,

Work started in 1983 with a standard shell modified to accept a mid-mounted Alfa-Romeo opposed 4 Boxer engine and (Lotus Europa style) rear-mounted gearbox. Due to extensive time working overseas; the, then 95% complete, car was handed to a local car dealer for storage. She has never been turned, cleaned or maintained in seven years. Her current condition requires a full strip-down and re-build: Perfect for the enthusiast wishing to custom build to his/her own spec.

Briefly: square tube chassis, inboard rear / outboard front brakes; aeroquip hoses throughout; front mounted “cut & shut” radiator; adjustable coil-over suspension – rose-jointed on all 4 corners (c/w titanium washers); Revolution road/race alloys - never used; recaro seats covered with last of RS-2000 multi-grey cloth – never used; all new Italian guages; electric windows – Volvo motors; diesel carpets; implosion crash tank – custom built.

Bill is looking to sell the car (or trade it for another “classic car”) to someone who has the time to finish it. You can email him at bmalhan@tiscali.co.uk if you’re interested.
