The answer is no…

This hilarious and slightly decrepit boat/car conversion is up on eBay (#110336071819) in Northern Illinois. The auction is up in three hours and it hasn’t yet cracked $200 or the reserve, so I guess it won’t sell for now. To be honest, I think it would almost be easier to start from scratch than to pick up this project? Nonetheless, I appreciate the project.

This beautiful red Kelmark GT just showed up on eBay (#120361418098) in Middletown, NY. The opening bid is $5,900 and no reserve has been set, which seems fair. It’s on a 1980 VW chassis and has been driven weekends since the current owner purchased it three years ago. The car looks really nice, but admittedly needs the interior redone (door panels, one of the side windows, etc.)… Apparently it drives great, although it comes without a title.

An eBay (#160308413156) seller has just posted this Laser 917 that he’s decided to start the big project of building custom ground effects for it… I guess the project ended up being a little too much for him as it’s now up for sale. I like where he’s going on the front end, but the rear panels (grafted from some import racer bodykit) leave a lot to be desired in my opinion… Luckily no real damage has been done yet so there’s no reason that a buyer needs to stay committed to it.

The amazing Warp 8 that I posted ages ago is back on eBay (#130277374011) in Blackwood, Caerphilly, UK. If I was in the UK I’d snatch this ultra-rare oddity up in a heartbeat. It’s such a special car! Please, someone restore this beauty!

There’s a great looking yellow Manta Mirage up for sale on eBay (#130276088113) in Davenport, Florida with opening bid of $10,000. From the description it sounds like this is the long version (both a short cab and long cab version existed — the latter was required for taller owners). The seller writes,

It will comfortably sit two large adults. It was originally set-up for a driver that was over 6 feet tall. There is plenty of leg room in both the driver’s and passenger’s side compartments. It can cruise equally well on the highway or in city traffic. The engine is a well-built 350 cu. in. Chevy V-8 small block. It has a Holley 4-barrel carb, and a Mallory electronic ignition. It has always been exceptionally well-tuned. It has a 4-speed manual transmission and an electric pump to lubricate the gears at higher speeds. The transmission was completely refurbished by Jones Racing during the car’s restoration. The transmission also has a separate cooler. The cooling system utilizes a big, aluminum Griffin radiator and electric fan so that you can drive this car in the hottest conditions. The suspension is upper and lower A-arms in front with adjustable coil-over shocks with upper and lower control arms for easy camber adjustment. The gauges are new. The tires are 245/50/14 in front and 295/50/15 in the rear. They are in perfect condition with less than 1,000 miles on them. These tires are a perfect balance for both the street and road racing courses. The body was originally painted red in a gel-coat finish. During restoration, we elected to change the color to chromium yellow. There is no chipping, webbing, or paint-over on the body. The original headlights and headlight cans were removed. The headlights were remounted in the front air dam for stylistic purposes. The car includes a removable soft top. However, this top is not appropriate for driving purposes. It is more of a protective soft top when washing or transporting the car. I suppose you could drive with the soft-top in place, but I would not recommend it. All of the lights, turn-signals, and electronics work. During restoration, we installed a AM/FM/CD player with speakers that was not on the original car. The car has a windshield wiper base, however, we removed the wiper for stylistic purposes.

The car was just listed so as I write this there are still almost ten days left in the auction.

Jim (jsimpson@whidbey.com) is selling his Fiberfab Jamaican project on eBay (#330280200318). This one is on a V8 Corvette chassis, with the doors hung with working latches, and side windows installed with the regulators. The body is bolted securely to the frame, but the front end is not attached so you can decide if you want to have a working hood or make it a tilt front end (I like the latter personally). The chassis is in very nice condition with no rust, and the bushings all look to be in very good shape. There are brake components in the car but they will need to be overhauled. The engine is a 350 Chevy that runs very well (and has been fired up since being mounted), mated to a sixties four-speed gearbox in very good shape. The car comes with a gas tank that is not installed inside the car.

To finish it, you will need a radiator, drive shaft, wiring harness, and instruments (and you’ll have to fabricate a dash and interior). “Pretty much what you see is what you get.” There is a GM steering column in the car, and the front Corvette and rear Porsche 911 windshields were purchased new for this car and have never been installed in a car before. They are set in place with tape holding them in the openings. The car is in orange gel coat and has never been painted… Some body work will need to be finished and lights will have to be mounted. The car comes with the build manual.

If you’re interested in this Jamaican, bid in the auction. Jim also has a second Jamaican on a TR4 chassis that he’s thinking of putting up for sale (that one runs and drives) — feel free to drop him a line about that car as well. He’s located north of Seattle, Washington.

Many of you surely remember the atrocious and embarrassing “Fierri Enzno” that was on eBay earlier this year… Well, I don’t know if it’s the same one restyled, or if there are actually more of these monstrosities around, but there’s a red version up on eBay right now right now (#200255251206)… Opening bid, $200: no takers.

Seriously, it really blows me away that anyone would be caught dead driving something like this, let alone put in the hundreds or, god forbid, thousands of hours of work to create this… Every single element of the car is wrong. Truly terrible.
