Lex in North Hills, PA (near Pittsburgh) is selling this ultra-clean Bradley GT kit car right now for $6,000 — more than a Bradley normally lists for, but in this case I think it’s probably justified. It sits on a ‘67 VW Beetle pan with a 1600cc ‘72 engine, has only 11,300 miles on it, and is currently running and registered. If you like the Bradley, and want to jump into one without the headache/joy of getting it looking perfect, maybe this is the one for you.
Dave is selling this Bradley GT in Gilroy, California. Other than the hit it’s taken to the driver’s side rear, it looks solid, and wow, gotta love that classic dunebuggy/motorboat gold metalflake paintjob! Contact Dave at bugedout35@yahoo.com if you’re interested. He’s asking $5,000.
A pair (unrelated) of Bradley GTs are currently up for sale here in the Toronto area. The first was built back in 1975 by Rockway Pontiac (Brockville, Ontario, where the car is still located) as part of a series of five they put together as turnkeys, and finally completed and put on the road in 1982. It’s in “perfect” shape and comes with the doors and all parts intact, and runs on a standard 4-speed 1600cc VW Beetle pan. Dennis, the second owner, is asking $5,995 for it and you can reach him at dennis@cogeco.ca. Unlike most kit cars, this one is being sold certified/safetied! At first glance, this looks like one of the most solid Bradley GTs you could step right into with no work available in Canada.
For a thousand dollars less ($4,999) is the second Bradley GT currently up for sale (on Kijiji #44698107) and is a ‘93 registration with Viper red paint job from a couple years ago. It’s located in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
This past winter Dennis spent about $7,000 converting his Bradley GT kit car to full plug-in electric running using a kit from e-volks. He’s using the 72 volt/40 HP D&D motor kit (kit #2) and twelve new deep cycle batteries which he’s put only thirty miles on so far. The car is capable of highway (55mph) speed and has a range of about thirty miles. The car is on air-adjustable suspension and other than the EV conversion is a normal VW Beetle chassis. Both body and interior need work to get them where they should be.
More photos of the build here. He’s asking $7,000 — write him at fakeplastictrees2@hotmail.com in Golden, CO if you’re interested. The car is also on eBay right now (#110273714784)… This might even be worth it for someone who wants to scrap the Bradley altogether and simply drop a different kitcar body over top.
Nola in Sacramento, CA is selling her Bradley GT project for an asking price of $600. She’s started the work to repair the body, but someone will need to finish the project. Drop her a line at n****@yahoo.com if you’re interested in taking this car. SOLD!
John in Greencastle, Pennsylvania is selling this Bradley GT for $500, saying “I just need it gone… I don’t have room for it.” I asked him about the unusual front end, assuming that it was an early version of the Bradley or perhaps a variation on it (a la the Scorpion GT, which shared similar if somewhat larger light pods), and he told me that a previous owner had grafted on a new front end design. I’m not sure if that’s the true history, but it’s definitely a huge improvement on the big ugly “flip down” pods that most Bradley GTs have.
If you’d like to take this car off his hands, drop him a line at vwdragthing@comcast.net. Unfortunately as well as having no windows (the windshield is out of a Corvette) and no title, it’s definitely not a running car… On the plus side, it has a drop floor and a rollcage, although their condition is dubious. Hope it finds a new home though, with the right TLC this could be nice on account of the superior front-end bodywork.
Chris who tattoos at Mountainside Tattoo in Bellows Falls (Springfield), VT, is selling this Scorpion GT kit car on eBay (#300234874430). The Scorpion GT is very similar to the Bradley GT (and I think perhaps identical in the rear), but with a different front end hood and light design. A very fun car, half way between a dunebuggy and a sportscar, this one is built on a solid ‘69 VW chassis. It needs minor work to correct a small oil leak, but many parts have been recently replaced (starter, fuel pump, carb, master cylinder, brake lines, battery) and until Chris decided he’d like to trade for a new toy, a motorcycle, this was driven regularly.
The Scorpion GT is a far less common kit car than the Bradley, and was sold by VW/GT Conversions with body kits starting at $750, and fully assembled cars selling for about $3,000 plus the donor chassis.
