Anthony (saintengland@sbcglobal.net) is selling a very nice looking Bradley GT II in Lubbock, TX. He’s owned the 1979 car for five years, and is sad to be selling it but needs the room and the money. He says, “It has been so amazing to own and drive around town. People break their necks on a double take when driving! It steals attention from any Viper or Porsche… This has happened more than once!”

In April 2007 Anthony installed a new 2110cc engine custom built by Strictly Foreign with Dual Webers carbs in April 2007, and less than a thousand miles have been put on the engine since (a $4175 engine by the way). The car comes with the owners/installation manuals, as well as a few boxes of spare parts, and to top it all off, a second Bradley GT II (minus the doors and roof) with a new pan, brake lines, brakes, A/C, and a rebuilt front end… $13,000 in cars for an asking price of $6,000.

The car has Lambo-style wheels (”Ultra”) and is painted in Toyota white. It’s always been garage kept, and it’s been registered and inspected the whole time Anthony has owned it. It jst needs some minor attention (a few of the gauges), but all-in-all this is a steal!

When it comes to original designs, the Bradley GT II is one of the most “production” looking kit cars out there — that is, it’s the least likely to be instantly identified as a kit. Mike’s got a nice looking one in the Portland, Oregon area, a ‘77 on a ‘72 VW pan with a 1835cc counterbalanced engine intended for a sand rail — “she is a rubber burner” he says. The gel coat is getting a bit rough, but everything’s there and it’s never been hit and the interior is solid. He’s had the car for fifteen years now and has had lots of fun with it, but is now looking for a new project. At $1,500 this car is a steal (it may already be sold by the time I post this) — write to Mike at ~~sandman456******* if you’re interested~~ SOLD!.

The asking price of $1,200 for this 1979 Bradley GT II is an amazing deal — contact Deryl in Ceres (near Modesto, CA) at bluuzmn50@yahoo.com if you’re interested. The car was built on a 1600cc VW chassis for about $11,000, and Deryl’s got $4,500 in it. It runs well, but needs brake work and some minor TLC.

Recently completed Bradley GT II kit car

One of the more refined kit cars of the classic era was the Bradley GT II, released after the huge success of its precursor. This one sat in the crate until 2000, as it came in part form from the factory. It was finally completed last year, with the following specs:

1971 Karman Ghia Frame and refurbished pan (sandblasted, new rails, etc.)
High performance 1776 cc engine (dual carbs with electric choke, 1 1/2 qt oil pan extension, etc.)
Beefed up transaxle with higher gear ratio for comfortable highway cruising
4-wheel disc brakes
Vinyl interior with carpet
Full gauges (speedometer, tachometer, amp meter, oil pressure, clock, oil temperature, voltmeter and fuel level)
Engine compartment and hatch glass electric solenoids with mechanical backup
Professional installation on the dual sunroofs, tinted windows
Air conditioning
New paintjob
Factory manual

And of course this beautifully completed Bradley GT II gets over 30mpg due to it’s low 43″ profile and VW driveline. With only 15 hours left to go on the auction (#180247880491), I don’t think it’ll hit its reserve, so I’ve asked the seller for some follow-up info so perhaps you’ll see more on this car and its build here soon. Very nice kit and a great build either way…

Sweet Bradley GT II

I’m normally not a giant fan of the Bradley series (although the GT II is much nicer than the GT, looking to me sort of like a minature little Corvette with gull-wing doors or someting), but this DIY customized one by Steve Striharsky is quite nice. It includes a 2110 cc engine (speedy in a car that light), custom lights, exhaust, engine cover, nurf bars, and a gorgeous paint job.

Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get to catch up with Steve at Carlisle; if I recall correctly he lives in the area.
