Sorry for my absence this past week. I will return, don’t worry. But in the meantime, Tim found this mystery kit and sends it in hoping someone can help identify it… Sort of a Porsche 904 meets Lotus Europa. I think I saw one of these ages ago here in Ontario as well with a mid-engine V8, but I have no idea what it is. Anyone know?

This could be a Canadian Sportee Monno GT. There’s a guy named Tim in Reading, PA who is paying a finder’s fee for one of them, and it sure looks a lot like the picture he posted at the samba. Here’s his description from there:
“Looking for an original Sportee Monno GT fiberglass kit car that was built on a VW chassie. These cars were originally built in Lethbridge, AB by a company called Silverstar Industries (later changed to Glascon, now defunct), in the mid-to-late 1960’s. They were loosely based on the original Lotus Europa. Apparently, somebody in Calgary bought the molds and made a few additional shells, they were sold as kits.
Does anyone in Canada know where any of these cars are? Please contact me.
A finder fee will be paid. Tim”
Whaddya think?
This is not a Monno Sportee car. I am the Tim from Reading, Pa. that is offering the finder fee and I compared this car to a few Monno Sportee pics that I have on file and it is a lot different if you really compare them. The doors are not the same, the cuts in the hood, no high spoiler like ridges down both rear quarters. I thought it was one too at first, but my guess is that it is an altered car of some kind. ?? I could be wrong. Tim
