The owner — a recycling facility (junk yard?) — wasn’t sure what they had, but readers here will instantly recognize it as an Invader GT body shell, ready for mounting on a VW Beetle pan. The body is solid (the Invaders tended to be well made), and you can either pick it up in Port Orchard, Washington, or they can arrange shipping. It’s a no-reserve auction with an opening bid of $49.99 on eBay (#370154428938), so I’m guessing someone will get this one for almost nothing.

Did they ship those cut in half from the factory? I ask because it doesn’t look as tho it was just sawed but as if there is a flange.

I bet you are right on Rich,
Shipping was always a problem for the VW based kit cars, Fiberfab would ship their 3 piece Avenger all nested together and did cut it in 3 parts for shipping,

Later Fiberfab even had their own delivery trucks and would haul off the crate with them, or so I am told.

I get liking the invader more and more, that racy looking one keeps popping up on the random rides here, they can be made to look pretty sweet

I like Shannon’s thing about doing a half door to change up the look some. It does make a cool looking finished ride like that red one with the white stripes.

  5. Dan says:

Is there an inner part for these available. Was wondering how it sat on the pan

  6. Totally a bargain! If I ever see an Invader near me, I’m picking it up, even if just to start a company to make the doors!

  7. Dan says:

Are there parts around for this body?
