Andy (atowtruck@yahoo.com) in Seattle is selling this interesting Avenger project for an asking price of $2,000. He’s grafted the normally VW-based Avenger body onto a Fiero chassis — a great project for the ambitious builder.

The rear fin is off a ‘93 Eagle Talon by the way.

I saw this car in person. If anbody here is interested but too far away to look I can give you a detailed report. He Did a great job of putting the body on a Fiero chassis. It started and sounded pretty good (although he said it would die if you put it in gear). The body still needed a lot of attention and the interior was a big mess. Overall a very cool but very big project. He has recently lowered the price on craigslist to $1500!

what year is the Fiero donor? Was it a 2M4 or 2M6?

  3. Schmitty says:

2m4 (4 cylinder) with automatic gearbox (yuck). I believe the Fiero was a 1985.

bummer. so without changing out the rear cradle for an 88, it’ll have the same Fiero bump-steer problem:(

im the owner of this car..and i appreciate the comments about my car..what the guy did not mention is that i bought it for the automatic trans due to starter issues with stick transmisions swapping to bigger motors.my plan was to install a 3.8 supercharged v6.or v8 motor.but never got to that point.and the guy that came to see it was driving a 1980s dodge caravan and in sure he was just a looky loo.it is a project but lights ,heater all work.also as you cannot see the front..its now solid with a functional hood with s10 headlights,so trunk and front end is all accessable

Hello Andy. I think your car was very cool and a great deal and I thought I gave it a good report. I understand your logic with the automatic but I (and most others) prefer sportscars as manual gearbox. I am not just a looky loo, I realy was and am still interested just having a hard time justifying buying another project and coming up with extra $$ at Christmas time. What does the fact that I was driving a Dodge van (it’s 90’s not 80’s) Have to do with anything? That’s simply my work vehicle.

Okay, I bought the car from Andy. The question is now what? This is a first project of this type for me. There is a lot of info on engine swap out there but I’m wondering if changing transaxle too is the way to go as West Coast Fiero claims this is a weak point if there is muscle. I’m not trying to make a power house just don’t want to start over. Also interested in ideas for-Making up a dash, getting lower seats(headroom), door windows, etc. avenger6884@yahoo.com
