“Not Quite A Countach” (Part One)
Joe Lee sends in this collection of photos of various Countach-inspired — but definitely not replica — kit cars, most of them from the UK. Any help in identifying them is definitely appreciated!
Kemark GT in need of total restoration
Kenny’s Kelmark hasn’t run for years, and is in desperate need of restoration, so he’s decided to put it up for sale. It’s on a 1966 VW pan (and titled as such), and has some upgrades including disc brakes at the front, power windows, and a dual carb/port engine. The Kelmark is one of the more refined looking kits out there (and doesn’t scream “kit car”), so even at his $2,500 asking price, it could be a great deal for someone. He’s located in Tucson, Arizona, and you can email him at weharayda@cox.net.
Very Rare Sirocco GT Kit Car
Lou recently purchased the Sirocco GT that we previously featured here, one of the only examples of this car known to exist, and was kind enough to send in some new pictures of it. It’s on a VW chassis with a 1600cc engine and Lou says he’s probably going to keep it, but had briefly listed it for $5,000 (he’s in Spring Hill, Florida) so write him at dlevine007@yahoo.com if you’re interested. It’s an interesting “dunebuggiation” of the GT40, with modifications including a flat (and oddly shaped) windshield and a lack of doors.
Bradley GT II for sale
The asking price of $1,200 for this 1979 Bradley GT II is an amazing deal — contact Deryl in Ceres (near Modesto, CA) at bluuzmn50@yahoo.com if you’re interested. The car was built on a 1600cc VW chassis for about $11,000, and Deryl’s got $4,500 in it. It runs well, but needs brake work and some minor TLC.
The last two photos are from an original Bradley GT II press kit — you can find that and lots more about this car at BradleyGT2.com.
Kellison Super-T Front-Engine Conversion
I don’t usually post buggies, but I thought this one was an interesting project… As well as their sportscars, Kellison built a series of VW-based dunebuggies including the 70s Mini-T/etc style Super T, a relatively rare buggy. What makes the one that Sonny has for sale unique is that it’s undergone a front-engine conversion, set up for a small block V8, with a Jaguar rear end, drum brakes, and rack and pinion steering on a tubular chassis. The car is currently partially dismantled and ready to be picked up, and he describes it as rust-free, crack-free, and without chips.
If you’re interested, write Sonny at sonnyblanders@yahoo.com. He’s asinking $1,500 or best offer, and is located in Stockton, California. The last two pictures are of completed Super Ts (photos from the Dune Buggy Archive and The Samba).
An Aztec 7B makes Montana even more scenic
This Fiberfab Aztec 7B is being listed in Helena, Montana for $2,500 (with all fair offers considered) and rides on a VW pan with an aluminum Buick 215 V8 mated to the VW transmission. The bad news is that the windshield (a valuable commodity since it comes from a Lamborghini Muira) has a hole knocked in it. If you’d like to make Shane an offer you can write him at Wbadcat69@bresnan.net.
Mystery Corvette Rebody
I saw this very, very rare kit for sale in San Diego and was hoping someone could help ID it.
The seller knows it as a “1983 Vandeta”, but that doesn’t sound right to me. It’s built on a 4-speed 1969 Corvette chassis, and I’m afraid that’s the limit of what I can tell you. The front end light design is quite distinctive so I hope someone will recognize this rebody. Peter believes it was made in the mid-eighties by a Texas-based company and was usually intended to be mounted on a Fiero or VW chassis.
If you’re interested in buying, Peter is asking $2,500 for the car as is, or $5,000 if you’d like it with new paint, smog certification, and registered. Drop him a line at customcarzsdcal@yahoo.com.
