Front-Engine Fiberfab Avenger Project

Well this is an odd project! This Fiberfab Avenger started life as the version that they offered for the Corvair driveline, but one of the recent owners cut all that out and grafted in the front and rear from a Jaguar XJ6 (and cut out the floor), with the intention of running a 500 CI Caddilac V8 up front… Doesn’t seem like a good idea to me, nor did it seem like a good idea to Eugene, who bought the project as you see it now.

His plan was to use the XJ6 components as a fasttrack to setting up an electric vehicle, but he hasn’t had time to work on it and has decided to sell it. It’s essentially a rolling body right now. He’s located in Goldsboro, North Carolina and you can reach him at partsfreak125@yahoo.com. He’s asking $2,000 or “interesting trades”.

Sofia Kit Car

Wrapping up a day of posts care of Joe Lee, I’ve posted his information on the Sofia, a rare Soviet-era kit car built around Lada parts in the past, and he’s managed to find a few more shots of this vehicle. Without a doubt this has to be one of the strangest and most awkward looking cars ever made, although I think it’s overwhelming eccentricity lends it a certain charm.

Panache Kit Car

Thanks to my friend Joe Lee for helping identify the “Panache” kit car that was previously posted as a mystery vehicle… From the back it looks like a traditional Lamborghini Countach clone, but from the front it’s far more radical, with a raked and extended front end that’s reminiscent of a Lancia Stratos split with a Countach, and then stretched and presented as a flip-top model. Joe included some pictures he’s collected of them as well.

Countess Countach “Replica”

Speaking of Lamborghini Countach clones that aren’t really particularly accurate, but still have some level of charm, this Countess Countach (I think that’s what it is — the seller didn’t know, and actually thought it was a Panache variant) sold earlier this year for just under £2,000 in the UK. For now I’ve left this filed in “Mystery Cars” because I’m not sure if the ID is correct. There were a number of Countach copies called the “Countess” — this is of course not the high quality New Zealand based one!

Condor Kit Car ID’d

Joe Lee confirmed for me that one of my earlier mystery cars was in fact a “Condor” kit car and that McLellan’s has some early sales materials up for purchase — anyone want to buy it and donate some scans of the materials? They confirm that the car was set up for a mid-engine V8. It actually looks alright in that finished yellow example…

“Not Quite A Countach” (Part Three)

More finished than the previously posted mystery car (and the same model), I’m definitely hoping that someone reading this can help ID this unknown Countach-inspired British kit car, also sent in by Joe Lee. It looks related to the Panache, and some people have suggested it could be a more recent version of that car, but I’m not sure.

“Not Quite A Countach” (Part Two)

Joe Lee sent me these pictures of an unidentified mystery Countach-inspired car out of the UK. If anyone knows what it is or anything about its history, please let us know!
