Kellison GT-40K For Sale
Nick’s got a rare 1965 Kellison GT-40K (one of the nicer VW-based GT-40 replicas) for sale in Madison Heights (near Detroit). It’s on a 1500cc VW chassis and looks good inside and out but could use a restoration to get it looking great. The front and back glass is good, but the side windows are missing. He’s asking $8,000 — or equivalent car or boat trades — and you can email him at nickinbass@yahoo.com.
DIY 2/3 Scale Jeep on ATV Chassis
Fred sent me these shots of an interesting DIY vehicle project he’s completed, a 2/3 scale military Jeep replica built in fiberglass over wood on a 4×4 quad chassis.
Ultra-Rare WARP 8 Kit Car For Sale
Seeing this for sale on eBay (#130237384582) in Blackwood, Caerphilly, UK, was really one of those “WOW” moments, as this is one of those cars you’ll see for sale once in a lifetime — I hope whoever buys this car (it’s only at £100 right now, with four days to go) appreciates and restores it. It’s a Warp 8, one of only two believed to have been built. It’s on a VW Beetle chassis (with a Beetle or 356 engine), and the glass is missing but it’s just flat glass so it’s an easy thing to source. If it looks familiar to you, it’s based on the striking Lancia Stratos Zero prototype, but like most kit interpretations, it has a dunebuggy air about it.
If a reader of this blog buys this, please keep me updated!
Widebody Nova Project, Earlier Stage
In these photos is Konstantin Stassinopoulos’s widebody Nova/Sterling project in what I believe is an earlier stage of the project. More details on the dramatic (to say the least!) car are in the previous entry. Do be sure to check out his website for more of his automotive projects, as well as his other non-car design work.
Koon’s Widebody Nova Project
I quite like the wild widebody conversion Konstantin Stassinopoulos from Koon Design in Germany has done with his Nova/Sterling. He bought the car back in 1993, and first upgraded the engine, swapping the little Beetle engine for a 220HP 2.8L V6 and strengthening the chassis. Later he stretched the body by almost a foot, and built absolutely massive fender flares as well as adding other minor tweaks like a remote-control hatch. The car has been through a number of iterations with a variety of scoops, wings, and effects.
Definitely looks right out of some post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie, especially with the matte-black paint job and excess of vents.
Matra Bagheera Dually Prototype
Today I’d like to feature some of the cars of DIY-minded Greek/German auto designer Konstantin Stassinopoulos at Koon Design. One of his first projects is this ultra-widebody Matra Bagheera, which he’s widened to 2.25m (7′ 5″) with a duallies (double 195 tires). He built this car without any automotive experience over a nine month period.
If you’re wondering about the suitably matched outfit, it is also of his own design — Konstantin enjoys design of all sorts.
Beautiful 1975 Karma/Meyers Manx SR2
Kim’s got an absolutely beautiful Meyers Manx SR2 by Karma Motors up for sale in Orange County, California. For 33 years this car sat, in part form in a garage. That said, it came basically factory assembled, complete other than needing the windshield bolted on and the chassis constructed. It sits on a 1971 VW with its original 1600cc engine completely rebuilt (cam, heads, dual port manifold, aluminum rocker covers, tuned exhaust, degreed pulley, bosch 009 distributor, an oil filter system, and more). The brakes and clutch are new, and it’s got turbo mags, gas shock operated doors, outside rear view mirrors, top and side windows with all hardware, a roll bar with interior light, factory Karma bucket seats with original upholstery, a front spoiler, coil over shocks, carpet, heater defroster system, and new tires.
And here’s the best part — it’s got 21 miles on it. That’s it.
This is the closest thing you’ll ever find to a Manx SR2 new off the dealership, if such a thing existed. Kim is asking only $12,000 and you can write them at kimapierce@comcast.net.
