Two Canadian Bradley GTs

A pair (unrelated) of Bradley GTs are currently up for sale here in the Toronto area. The first was built back in 1975 by Rockway Pontiac (Brockville, Ontario, where the car is still located) as part of a series of five they put together as turnkeys, and finally completed and put on the road in 1982. It’s in “perfect” shape and comes with the doors and all parts intact, and runs on a standard 4-speed 1600cc VW Beetle pan. Dennis, the second owner, is asking $5,995 for it and you can reach him at dennis@cogeco.ca. Unlike most kit cars, this one is being sold certified/safetied! At first glance, this looks like one of the most solid Bradley GTs you could step right into with no work available in Canada.

For a thousand dollars less ($4,999) is the second Bradley GT currently up for sale (on Kijiji #44698107) and is a ‘93 registration with Viper red paint job from a couple years ago. It’s located in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Ugly, or just “ahead of its time”?

The folks over on Exotic Spotter just posted some photos taken in Tamworth, UK of this radically modified Nova (Sterling) kit car on a VW chassis — although only the roof/window/door assembly appears to have been retained. It also seems to be using pieces from a Corvette (the dash), a Cougar (front lights), and a Vauxhall (rear lights)… Other than the front lights I like it.

EV Sebring/Sterling Conversion

At the other end of the electric kit car spectrum from the previous one posted is Jonathan Trotter’s 1973 Sebring (Sterling). It’s built on a 1971 IRS Beetle pan (four wheel disc brakes, new rotors, calipers, hoses, cables ball joints, and bearings, and all chrome steering linkage, as well as new shocks, new rims and tires). The car looks good with new paint, new interior, a new wiper motor, arm, and blade, new weather strips, and new gauges.

The electric system is 144 volts, with a D&D motor, a Curtis controller, a Zivan charger, and Optima deep cell batteries. It will do 75 mph and has a range of thirty to a hundred miles depending on driving habits. Jonathan built the car in October 2007 and it has a new VIN and registration as an electric vehicle in Missouri. He’s asking $24,000 so he can move on to other projects, and says he’s invested much more than that. Write him at jonathantrotter@hotmail.com if you’re interested.

Bradley GT EV Conversion

This past winter Dennis spent about $7,000 converting his Bradley GT kit car to full plug-in electric running using a kit from e-volks. He’s using the 72 volt/40 HP D&D motor kit (kit #2) and twelve new deep cycle batteries which he’s put only thirty miles on so far. The car is capable of highway (55mph) speed and has a range of about thirty miles. The car is on air-adjustable suspension and other than the EV conversion is a normal VW Beetle chassis. Both body and interior need work to get them where they should be.

The car is also on eBay right now (#110273714784)… This might even be worth it for someone who wants to scrap the Bradley altogether and simply drop a different kitcar body over top.

Embeesea Chepeko (Charger Series Oddity)

This odd vehicle (spotted on the KitCars.com forums) is an “Embeesea Chepeko”, a vehicle that seems to sit between the shorter Charger and the later full-sized Charger 2+2 model (and also very similar to the Siva Saluki). Generally mounted on a VW Beetle chassis, this one actually is running a Ford Crossflow engine on a flipped VW transaxle in a midengine configuration. It was built for a friend of the designer’s and as such has thicker fiberglass than usual and several minor modifications. I’ve emailed the new owner, who saved it from the wreckers, for an update on the project and more pictures.

Toyota MR2 to Maserati MC12 Conversion

Joe Lee sent me these photos of a Bulgarian auto tuner who’s undertaken the ambitious project of converting his Toyota MR2 into a Maserati MC12 LeMans edition by covering it with foam spray and carving it to shape. The wheelbase will be different of course, but at least the MC12 is rare enough that most viewers may miss that? The third photo is his goal of course, not his car.

Bradley GT in Sacramento
