Hensen M30 Kit Car For Sale
The Hensen M30 is an ultra-rare (production run of seventeen cars, with less than ten currently known) component car designed by Hugo Brett Henricksen in the UK around Granada components. Selling for about £4000 in the early eighties, it was intended to be a “poor man’s luxury sports car”. It’s an interesting mix of relatively mundane and boxy appearance with very muscular and macho design.

This example in Nantwich, United Kingdom is owned by the Hensen club secretary, who’s now decided to put it up for sale. It’s been extensively modified, including a coupe conversion to the rear (using Mazda RX7 parts) and a tuned Rover V8 3.9L aluminum engine and an SD1 5-speed transmission. The photos of the car complete were taken in 1996. The car was dismantled several years afterwards, and it’s largely sat in dry storage since.
Now, a move requires finally letting go of the project, and it’s up on eBay (#330245180179), currently at £2,750.00, which Neil says is likely less than the driveline alone is worth. You can also reach him by email at atinofspam@hotmail.co.uk.
VW-Based Camaro Replica/Buggy
Although I’ve seen a couple of these for sale over the years, this heavily “buggified” second-gen Camaro-style body mounted on a shortened VW Beetle chassis (with a secondary tube frame on the rear) is still very rare so I’ve been able to find out very little about it — if anyone knows anything about the history of the manufacturer, please do mention it in the comments. The body is a single piece with no doors (although this example does have removable t-tops) and is finished in a metalflake green. I’m not sure if this one has been modified to fit a new windshield and top, because most of the ones I’ve seen (one, two) are running a flat windshield with no top.
Anyway, Wayne, the current owner, is asking $5,000 — amusing because of course an actual Camaro is dime-a-dozen — or is willing to trade for a beach buggy or motorcycle. He’s located in Manchester, KY, and can be reached at felicia@newwavecomm.net.
Scorpion GT Kit Car For Sale
Chris who tattoos at Mountainside Tattoo in Bellows Falls (Springfield), VT, is selling this Scorpion GT kit car on eBay (#300234874430). The Scorpion GT is very similar to the Bradley GT (and I think perhaps identical in the rear), but with a different front end hood and light design. A very fun car, half way between a dunebuggy and a sportscar, this one is built on a solid ‘69 VW chassis. It needs minor work to correct a small oil leak, but many parts have been recently replaced (starter, fuel pump, carb, master cylinder, brake lines, battery) and until Chris decided he’d like to trade for a new toy, a motorcycle, this was driven regularly.
The Scorpion GT is a far less common kit car than the Bradley, and was sold by VW/GT Conversions with body kits starting at $750, and fully assembled cars selling for about $3,000 plus the donor chassis.
Gorgeous Orange Aztec 7
Seth has what I think is one of the nicest, cleanest looking Fiberfab Aztec 7’s on the market, and it’s currently up for sale in a no-reserve eBay auction (#250261020174). His car is located in Lynchburg, VA, and the auction is currently at a mere $761 (it ends next Wednesday). If I was going to bid on an Aztec 7, this one would definitely be getting my attention, and I think whoever gets this will be quite happy. Personally I think this one is worth somewhere in the $10,000 range.

As I mentioned, this example looks super-clean with a nice by-the-book finish on the car, although they’ve fixed what I think is the design’s one Achilles heel, the ultra-ugly and somewhat immense light pods (check them out on the Aztec 7 a few entries down from this one). His headlights have been relocated to the tip of the nose. It hasn’t driven since 2002 — this is another “barn find” — but it seems to be a pretty solid example and I can’t imagine it would take much time or money to get it into a daily driver state. It’s registered as a “1992 Reconstruction”, so it’s got a nice kitcar title rather than just being registered as a Beetle.

Yellow Manta Mirage in Allentown, PA
Just saw this Manta Mirage posted to Craigslist (#683391250) in Allentown, PA. He’s asking $25,000 and it looks very nice — this one is running a 400 HP Chevy powered 355 CI V8 with the air adjustable front suspension. Click here for more pictures. I think a strong case can be made that the Mirage is the wildest kit car ever made, so it always amazes me that you can almost always find one for sale. For all I know it’s too wild for most people?
Black Manta Mirage For Sale
Neptali in Florida is selling his black Manta Mirage. It’s running a 327 mated to a 4-speed Corvair transmission, and runs well but needs some work to get it visually perfect, including replacing the windshield (they are still available from mantacars.com). He’s asking $14,999 or best offer. Contact him by email at bianchini33@yahoo.com.
Two videos of the car are after the break.
Two Aztec 7 Kit Cars
Both of these Aztec 7’s have my favorite accessory, a roof-mounted stereo. Leon’s (the white one) has a custom enclosure for a standard unit, but Corey’s (the dark one) has a rare stereo designed for this placement.
