I’m not sure that many of these were made, because I think I’ve seen, oh, one in my entire life! Back in the mid-seventies, the complete kit sold for well under $2,000 and was pretty much built on a dunebuggy chassis (ie. VW minus 14.5″). It was quite a small car, 46″ to the roof and with only an 80″ wheelbase. I see this as an early version of the Manx SR personally…
If anyone reading this has a real photo of it (or even more promo stuff), let me know.
i have seen one of these cars and have been looking for one there is one on the east side of the mississippi river
I almost bought one back then. They are based on the VW Rabit doner. I have a friend in NJ that was a dealer and I will see if I can look him up.
Regards, ray
The March Hare was designed by Jim Edwards and John Marshall, head of Brigham Young University design school. Tooling and prototype were built by Jim & Vicki Edwards and Leavonworth Holden, loft chief of Trumpy Yachts of Annapolis, MD. Most of the buyers were engineers. Bruce Kirk, project manager of the Harpoon program built one that won top prize in several car shows. A more advanced model called ECCO (Edwards Car Co.) was being built when the company closed shop.
The March Hare was mounted on a shortened VW Beetle chassis.
